The design of this lakefront cottage aims to take full advantage of its site by framing views towards the lake from every point of the home and property.
Situated between Toronto and the Muskoka region, the cottage integrates modern design principles into typical timber frame cottage architecture. In addition to the aesthetic use of reflective pools and green roofs, green building principles and sustainable design systems have been used when possible to minimize the home’s environmental impact.
The interior design employs contemporary detailing and maintains an open floor plan within the timber frame and exposed, board formed concrete elements. In addition, modern landscape architecture meets the home and its interior design in an attempt to erase the line between indoor and outdoor space.
Unfortunately, not proceeding past the design phase, this project was a favourite in it’s design and close connection to a beautiful lakefront location and vista.
